Ms. Lakey serves as trusted leasing counsel for a diverse range of commercial property owners and tenants, advising clients through every stage of the leasing process — from letters of intent through negotiation and documentation of new leases, amendments, renewals, expansions, assignments, subleases, lease restructurings, and other complex transactions. She also counsels clients on property management matters, tenant defaults, operational issues, and lease interpretation. Clients value her practical, business-oriented approach and her ability to develop efficient solutions that protect their legal interests while advancing their business objectives.
A distinguishing aspect of Ms. Lakey’s practice is her extensive in-house experience. Prior to co-founding SSL Law Firm LLP, she served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Spieker Properties, advising on office, industrial, and retail leasing, property management, construction and architectural contracts, and general corporate matters. That background gives her a practical understanding of the operational, financial, and business considerations facing commercial real estate owners. Prior to Spieker, she practiced at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP in San Francisco, representing landlords and tenants in commercial leasing and lenders and borrowers in real estate finance.
